Relaxing
So I made it through my first half marathon Saturday morning, could barely stand Saturday night, and by Sunday I was feeling pretty good except my right calf. We decided not to go hiking and I just relaxed and today’s run was slow and short. But it seems that’s what I needed cause I feel great now! Can’t wait for the next halfer!!!!!

Get your Rear In Gear
My first run of the year. My first race of the year, and my first ever 1/2 marathon. What a fantastic day it was. Cool…..about 39 degrees at the start and even two hours later it was only 42. Jack met me at the end, which was a total surprise. He worked till 6AM, but made it a point to be at the Y at 11AM just to support me. How awesome is that? I can’t wait to do another race. maybe next month.

Next weekend
So in one week I’ll have a half-marathon under my belt. I never would have thought it. Today was a very comfortable 56 degree run. I hope to get in 10 or 12 tomorrow, then short runs on Monday and Tuesday. Jack and I are gonna do some hiking on Wednesday and Thursday, then nothing on Friday and Saturday is race day. I’m psyched!

A cool, cool day. 43 degrees, and it took me two miles just to get warm. I got in six. I could have done more but I’ve got new shoes and didn’t want to get too far away from home just in case. Besides, my son crapped his car so I had to pick him up from work and I didn’t have a ton of time. My half marathon is in 28 days and I am feeling pretty good about it so far. I want to get just one 15 mile run in before “the day” but if I don’t, I don’t!

My first 1/2
So I’m getting ready for my first half marathon. There’s one in town January 3rd and I hope the weather is nicer than last year. I just did the 5K then and the temperature had just climbed to freezing when the starting gun fired. I’m psyched about the run. I’ve only managed to go 10.8 miles, but when I was buying new shoes last week the sales girl said she’d only gotten up to 11 before her first half and another customer in the store said he did his first with only a nine mile longest run till that day. I think I can do this!

Run - 1.8 hours - 11/23/2008
So it was a nice cool day and I wanted to put off doing anything I could possibly put off doing as far as housework goes, so I went for a run. Hey it sure beats scrubbing and vacuuming! My folks and my younger brother and his roommate are all coming over for Thanksgiving and I’ve got loads of work to do before they actually see the inside of my new place, but I just couldn’t bring myself to clean. The crisp air felt so good and I didn’t want to stop. I’m hoping I can be ready for my frist 1/2 marathon six weeks from yesterday. Today is only the second time I’ve actually run 10 miles, but I think with six weeks to go, I’ll be able to 1)finish 13 miles and still be alive, 2) finish 13 miles without stopping to walk, and 3) finish 13 miles in under 2 1/2 hours. Y’all keep your fingers crossed!
